A woman in Oakland Park was hospitalized following a dog attack that occurred on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place around 2 p.m. near Northeast 51st Street, Local 10 reported. Deputies responded to a call about an animal bite and upon their arrival, found the victim who was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
While her identity and condition were not disclosed, being taken to the hospital indicates the seriousness of the incident. What precisely instigated the attack remains unclear, but authorities confirmed that multiple dogs were involved and they all belonged to family members. The dogs have since been taken into custody by animal control, as deputies contained the scene where multiple dogs were found, according to the initial report by NBC Miami.
Animal control and sheriff's deputies later removed a dog that appeared to be a pit bull breed from the residence. This latest canine incident comes on the heels of another dog attack in Deerfield Beach where an 11-year-old boy was injured.
There has been no update on the woman's condition after being hospitalized with the dog bite. The Broward Sheriff's Office is yet to release any further details about the events leading up to the attack.
