
Port St. Lucie residents were met with the aftermath of a tragic vehicular accident this morning, where a rollover crash resulted in two victims being seriously injured and one man losing his life.
The incident took place at the intersection of S.E. Village Green Drive and S.E. South Niemeyer Circle, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD), officers responded to the crash site after reports came in, their investigation caused both directions near 1700 S.E. Village Green Drive to shutdown while they worked the scene, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes. The two individuals ejected from their vehicle upon impact were promptly attended by St. Lucie County Fire District emergency services and transported to a local hospital; however, the male victim could not survive his injuries, as reported by CBS12.
Details provided by Sgt. Dominick Mesiti of the PSLPD, “The preliminary investigation has so far revealed that ... a black Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Southeast Village Green Drive negotiating a curve, which then turns into a southbound curve. However, they did not negotiate the curve, and they crossed over the curved median, struck a tree and rolled over,” as he explained on the scene in a statement obtained by TCPalm.
The PSLPD is still looking into the cause of the crash. A section of Southeast Village Green Drive stayed closed until just before noon. The identity of the deceased man has not yet been publicly disclosed while officials proceed with the necessary protocols in such circumstances.
