
A Salisbury man sustained a gunshot wound to the head during an altercation late Sunday evening, as per the Rowan County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the scene around 8:35 p.m. yesterday, along Sides Road, a residential area not far from East U.S. Highway 52 and north of Rockwell.
The victim, who has not been named by officials, was able to communicate with authorities following the incident; he indicated that a dispute with another individual escalated and culminated in the shooting, QCNews reported. Though sustaining a head injury, the wounds were deemed non-life-threatening, and the man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital where he is receiving care, details from the sheriff's office confirmed.
There is limited information regarding the suspect, as no arrests have been made in connection to the event and no suspect details have been released by the deputies, at this stage of the investigation the concern is clear that the perpetrator remains unknown and at large which continues, according to a report by WCNC.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the events leading up to the shooting and trying to understand what happened on Sunday evening. They are urging anyone with information to come forward, WBTV reported.
