A quiet Monday morning in the Rose Park neighborhood of Salt Lake City was disrupted when Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) officers responded to a bank robbery. The incident occurred at a bank located at 783 North Redwood Road, prompting an emergency call to SLC911 at about 9:36 a.m., as reported by SLCPD.
According to officers, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Martinez allegedly leaped over the bank counter, demanding money without brandishing a weapon. The amount of money taken has not been disclosed, the suspect fled the scene following the heist. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the course of the event.
In a turn of events, Martinez found his alleged run from the law cut short. Two SLCPD officers, working a secondary employment shift, spotted him near 1300 South and 300 West later that day. They managed to arrest him without incident and subsequently booked him into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. Martinez's capture was characterized as "safe" by the department.
