On January 4, 2025, at approximately 6:31 PM, San Francisco Police officers responded to the 500 block of 5th Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The officers immediately administered aid until the victim could be transported to a local hospital, where they remained with life-threatening injuries. The San Francisco Police have urged the public to come forward with any information related to the shooting, imploring witnesses to contact SFPD at 415-575 4444 or to anonymously text a tip to TIP411, prefacing the message with "SFPD".
