
Residents in Henry County have been urged to remain vigilant after two armed suspects involved in a high-speed police chase remain at large. The chase began in Hamilton County and continued through multiple counties before the suspects' vehicle crashed in Henry County. According to the FOX59 report, the Henry County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the suspects are considered armed and dangerous and has recovered one AK-47 from the crashed vehicle.
The pursuit started around noon when officers were alerted to the suspects who had reportedly fired shots at an individual in Hamilton County. The suspects, described as two Black males, fled the scene and led authorities on a lengthy chase, detailed by the WISH-TV coverage. The chase traversed through Madison County before entering Henry County on U.S. Highway 36, where the suspect's vehicle ultimately crashed near the intersection of U.S. Highway 36 and County Road 500 West.
Following the crash, the suspects fled on foot into a wooded area prompting a multi-agency search involving drones and K-9 units. The WRTV report states that around 50 officers from various law enforcement agencies, including the Henry, Madison, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Offices, participated in a search that spanned over three hours. However, the men were not found.
As the search continues, law enforcement authorities have appealed to the public for assistance. Residents are instructed to report any suspicious activity to 911 immediately. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized the need for caution given that suspects are believed to be armed with dangerous weapons.
