According to a report from News 4 San Antonio, Avila Jr. reached out to his family around a week later, on December 24 from an undisclosed number, merely to check in. "His family has not heard from him since and he does not have a phone," the report adds. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office notes that Avila is known to frequent the Converse area, which remains a key focus of the search efforts.
In their appeal for public assistance, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office described Avila Jr. as standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing around 220 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. "Ramon’s family has expressed concern regarding a medical condition and says he is on a treatment plan that he may not be adhering to," states KSAT. When last seen, he was wearing a black jacket, faded white jeans, and brown Vans shoes.
