A sting operation led by the Seattle Police Department's Human Trafficking Unit resulted in the arrest of nine men along Aurora Avenue yesterday. The undercover initiative, targeting the rampant issue of prostitution in the area, saw individuals ranging in age from 18 to 64 apprehended for their alleged intent to engage in sexual acts for compensation. The operation involved local law enforcement posing as sex workers, leading to several suspects being charged with patronizing a prostitute and prostitution loitering.
According to the Seattle Police Department’s blotter, the suspects, identified only by their gender and age, included men aged 26, 64, 18, 39, 43, 38, 33, 20, and another 38-year-old. Each of these individuals reportedly approached an undercover officer, with the exchange being closely monitored by a team of detectives from various units, and patrol officers, from multiple precincts.
This collaborative effort involved not only the police department but also the Seattle City Prosecutor’s Office, aiming to address and deter criminal activities related to prostitution. After the operation, each suspect was booked into the King County Jail.
