A house fire in Spencer early Saturday morning claimed the life of a woman. Firefighters rescued her from the flames, but she later died at a hospital. The Oklahoma State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, according to KOCO.
A fire in Spencer prompted a response from five agencies, including the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Firefighters faced major challenges as the roof collapsed and equipment was damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, as reported by News 9.
Neighbor Ashley Ericksen was alerted to the fire when her dogs started barking. She saw flames coming from the house and realized the resident, known as 'Pat,' was likely inside, as her car was still in the driveway. Ericksen quickly told firefighters about Pat, showing the close bond in the community now dealing with the loss, as per the News 4.
First responders tried to revive the victim on the front lawn, but she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The ongoing investigation may help prevent future tragedies and raise awareness.
