
Charlotte residents can look forward to some respite from the winter chill with an upcoming stretch of sunny days, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Today's sunny skies with a high near 48 degrees come with the promise of a mostly clear night, and a low around 24 degrees. Winds expected to shift from west southwest around 7 mph to north northwest after midnight.
Following the chill of the night, tomorrow is predicted to stay sunny with a high near 41, with winds from the north northeast at 5 to 7 mph, becoming west northwest in the afternoon. After the sun has set, the clear skies will continue, hovering over a low around 22 degrees, offering a crisp clarity to the night.
The remainder of the week is set to maintain the sunny trend with temperatures edging upward. Thursday will delight with a high near 49 degrees as light south winds become west southwest, with possible gusts as high as 22 mph. The night will once again embrace the clear conditions with a low around 27.
Rolling into the weekend, Friday keeps the streak alive with another sunny day forecasted to touch a high near 52 degrees. Yet, by Friday night, the first whispers of change surface as there's a 30 percent chance of showers after 3am, and mostly cloudy skies enveloping a low of about 37 degrees. As if on cue, showers become more likely Saturday, particularly between 8am and noon, with the chance of precipitation rising to a substantial 70 percent amidst a high near 49 degrees.
As Saturday night advances, the possibility of showers dwindles to 30 percent before 8pm, which leads into a mostly cloudy night with a low around 40. The cloudy pattern persists into Sunday and Sunday night, where highs hover around 52 and lows sink to the 32-degree mark respectively. Looking ahead, M.L.King Day is set to be mostly sunny, climbing to a high near 43 degrees.
