
A man was fatally shot by Fort Lauderdale police earlier today after he was reportedly throwing incendiary devices and starting a fire in a parking lot, as confirmed by police officials. The incident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. in the 5300 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue, as stated by Local 10.
Upon their arrival, Fort Lauderdale police officers encountered a large fire and the suspected man actively throwing what appeared to be explosive devices, in the act of creating chaos before the officers opened fire, killing him a shopping cart along with some burned debris was visible near the body. WSVN reported a shopping cart and burned debris were spotted at the scene alongside the deceased's body, yet no further details regarding the suspect's identity have been disclosed.
Firefighting units from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue were dispatched to extinguish the blaze which involved various items including mattresses and chairs; the fire was put out successfully with no subsequent damage to surrounding structures.
