A suspect wanted for a financial scam was finally apprehended by the Plymouth Police Department after an extensive investigation led detectives all the way to Miami, Florida. Omari Thompson, hailing from North Miami Beach, stands accused of masquerading as a bank representative, an act which resulted in an unsuspecting victim transferring what has been described as a sizeable amount of money under false pretenses.
The ruse, according to a Facebook post by the Plymouth Police Department, unfolded back in 2023, but it is only now that the suspect has been successfully booked. Detective Pierce of the Plymouth Police played a pivotal role in identifying Thompson after executing several search warrants, setting the wheels of justice in motion, albeit slowly—a pace that many victims might find frustrating.
The charges against Thompson are serious: Larceny Over $1200 By False Pretense, Identity Fraud, and specifically Larceny Over $250 from an individual aged 60 or older or disabled; a charge that highlights the suspect's alleged willingness to target society's more vulnerable citizens. The arrest does not signal the end but rather the transition to a new phase as Thompson faces arraignment at Plymouth District Court.
