Chaos erupted in Humboldt Park on a Friday evening when a vehicle plowed its way into a residential backyard, according to Chicago emergency officials. ABC7 Chicago reported that the incident occurred near the cross streets of North Avenue and Kimball Avenue, leaving two individuals seriously injured after an SUV collided with a CTA bench before breaching a fence.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., SkyCam 9 hovered above the disrupted calm of the neighborhood, capturing images of emergency personnel navigating the wreckage. The aftermath of the crash brought forth a stream of Chicago Fire Department vehicles and first responders, focused on tending to the injured and securing the area. CFD confirmed to ABC7 Chicago that the two individuals harmed in the crash were transported to local hospitals. Yet, the ages and genders of these individuals remained unknown. A police officer was also reported to have sustained an injury, although it was clarified that this injury was not a result of the collision.
The circumstances precipitating the unexpected detour of the SUV are still unclear, and authorities have not released details on the possible cause of the accident at this time. Further investigations are still underway to unravel the sequence of events that led to this moment of destruction.
