A Tennessee man from Leatherwood is facing charges of aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly abandoning seven puppies near Paris Landing Bridge. The Stewart County Sheriff's Office said the man was arrested after a hunter found the puppies in a cardboard box during cold weather at Gray's Crossing, as reported by WKRN.
Law enforcement identified and arrested the man after gathering tips and evidence from the discarded box. The man had driven them 12-15 miles from his residence to dump them, according to WSMV.
The puppies were taken to the Paris-Henry County Animal Shelter for medical care, including deworming treatments and vaccinations. FOX 17 reports that one puppy has already been adopted, while the others are with foster families awaiting permanent homes.
