Early Monday morning in Cohasset, a 34-year-old man from West Yarmouth, Christian W. Chapman, was arrested after crashing into a utility pole and abandoning his vehicle. Police and emergency responders were called to North Main Street near Ripley Road for a single-vehicle crash, as stated by the Cohasset Police Department.
Officers found a damaged 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with no driver. The Cohasset Police K9 unit, "Einstein," located the driver, Chapman, around 4:45 AM near the crash site. Chapman is facing multiple charges, including Operating Under the Influence (drugs), negligent operation, leaving the scene, speeding, and failing to stay in marked lanes, as reported by the Cohasset Police Department.
According to the Cohasset Police Department on their Facebook page, a crash on North Main Street caused a road closure until Monday afternoon as crews worked on repairs. Chapman's 2012 Pathfinder was totaled, but he refused medical treatment. The accident disrupted traffic, and Chapman now faces legal charges for negligence.
