Earlier today, Worcester Police were called to the scene of a double shooting after ShotSpotter detected multiple gunshots. Officers found about 30 shell casings scattered around Southbridge Street. The Worcester Police Department's official Facebook post disclosed that the incident unfolded at approximately 3:27 a.m.
A vehicle containing three males was stopped at a red light when another vehicle quickly approached from behind and initiated gunfire. Following the attack, the driver of the victim's car hurried to a local hospital, where two of the men received care for their non-life-threatening injuries. The assailant's vehicle had fled before officers arrived.
The WPD's Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit are actively investigating the case, gathering the limited evidence left by the shooter. Detectives are reviewing security footage, searching for any leads that could support an arrest and bring justice after the chaos.
