
A 57-year-old man was found fatally shot early Sunday morning in a residence within the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the man sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was discovered by officers at approximately 3:15 a.m. in the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue.
He was quickly taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center but was later pronounced dead. The WGN-TV reported that preliminary investigations appear to indicate that the shooter was a 60-year-old woman, who was still on the scene when police arrived. A weapon has been recovered, and the woman is now in custody.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, as officials likely are to notify the next of kin. The exact circumstances behind the shooting remain unclear, and detectives from Area Two are actively investigating the incident.
