A 7-year-old boy in northwest Atlanta is now in the process of recovery after a distressing incident yesterday afternoon where he accidentally shot himself in the leg. The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW, details provided by the FOX 5 Atlanta report. Police say, the boy found an unsecured firearm in the home, leading to his self-inflicted injury.
When first responders arrived, they found the child "alert, conscious and breathing," according to a statement obtained by WSBTV. He was promptly taken to a local hospital for immediate care.
