Residents in several Chicago neighborhoods are on high alert following a series of armed robberies reported by the Chicago Police Department (CPD). According to the Community Alert, three recent robberies in the Near South Side, Ukrainian Village, and Windsor Park neighborhoods have put local communities on edge.

These incidents happened in broad daylight and late evening hours, with the first reported on the 2100 block of W. Division St at 3:00 p.m. on January 18, 2025, in Ukrainian Village. That same day, another robbery occurred at 11:35 p.m. on the 0-100 block of E. 16th St. in the Near South Side. To continue this alarming trend, the 7500 block of S. Phillips Ave in Windsor Park became the scene of a similar crime at 5:02 p.m. on January 19. In each case, offenders, described as three African American males, 18-25 years of age, have brazenly used at least two long guns to threaten their victims and escape in a previously stolen blue Honda Civic sedan.

The CPD's Community Alert provides detailed offender descriptions, urging the public to stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings to avoid falling victim to these violent crimes. The suspects are reported to be between 5'11" and 6'0" in height, weighing approximately 150-160 pounds, and clad in dark clothing and black ski/surgical masks during the robberies. One of the incidents escalated violently, as an offender used a handgun to brutally strike a victim on the side of the face.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to reach out with any helpful details, emphasizing the importance of calling 911 immediately if someone becomes a victim or witness. "If approached by a witness to an incident, request they remain on the scene when possible or obtain contact information," the CPD statement stressed. Citizens are also advised to pay special attention to suspicious vehicles, a critical detail since the suspects were observed fleeing in the same stolen vehicle following each of the robberies.

The Chicago Police express that the safety of the community is paramount. They encourage residents to stay connected with neighbors and to discuss this information with family and friends who reside in the impacted areas.
