
Two suspects involved in an armed robbery in Humboldt Park were arrested on Monday after an intense car chase that extended into the south suburbs, as per authorities. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:43 p.m. when a delivery driver on the 800 block of North Spaulding Avenue was accosted by two men, who then proceeded to quickly flee in a stolen Infiniti, as per the Chicago Sun-Times. A third individual, involved in the robbery, fired shots into a residence near East 74th Street and South Saint Lawrence Avenue, reported WGN-TV; however, no injuries were reported.
Local law enforcement along with Illinois State Police took up the pursuit of the stolen vehicle, a chase that spanned through the south suburbs. It was a fast-paced situation, with officers having to quickly pivot to block off escape routes and ensure the safety of bystanders. The chase finally came to a halt near Vollmer Road and Central Avenue in Matteson, where Chicago and Sauk Village police, assisted by Illinois State Police, managed to stop the suspects. All three suspects, reportedly, were then arrested after attempting to flee on foot from the scene.
Recovered from the stopped vehicle were two firearms, according to officials. The incident, involving potential charges of armed robbery and discharge of a firearm, is now under the Chicago Police Department's investigation's purview.
