A tragic incident unfolded on Interstate 95 in Foxboro, Massachusetts, on Friday, when a man lost his life following a three-vehicle collision. As reported by NBC Boston, the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. south of Exit 23B. The series of unfortunate events seemed to start with the driver, later identified as William Martindale, 57, of Attleboro, experiencing a medical event. This incident caused his vehicle to leave the road, enter the median, and then collide with two other cars upon reentering the highway.
The Massachusetts State Police provided details on the aftermath of the collision indicating one operator apart from Martindale suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital. Martindale himself, according to WCVB, was urgently attended to by paramedics and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Despite the frantic efforts by the first responders, the medical event's sudden nature placed Martindale in a perilous situation, ultimately leading to the tragic outcome.
The state police were thorough in their response to the incident, deploying multiple units, such as the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Crime Scene Services Section, and Troop H Detectives to the scene for a comprehensive investigation. Cleanup and examination efforts concluded by approximately 7:40 p.m., at which time the authorities reopened the highway to restore the flow of traffic.
