As reported by the State of Indiana's official events calendar, Governor Mike Braun has decided on his pick for the Hoosier State's new watchdog—attorney Jared Prentice is stepping up as Indiana's Inspector General, a role carrying the hefty responsibility of sniffing out and curbing improprieties across state executive branch agencies. The goal here is straightforward: stamp out fraud, abuse, and assorted misconduct, while encouraging transparency and boosting public trust in Indiana's government workings.
With a professional track record that spans both private and public sectors, Prentice has wielded his expertise in compliance and reporting in various settings; he first cut his teeth at the Indiana Department of Revenue, where he launched, from square one, a compliance department that aligned with legal mandates and the organization's ethical frameworks, later on he migrated to Elevance Health—a company not unfamiliar with Fortune’s list—where his remit included steering their records management and navigating the murky waters of healthcare compliance and privacy. Prentice’s latest stint at Deloitte Services had him overhauling their compliance and reporting protocols, bringing AI into the mix for good measure.
Aside from the day jobs, Prentice also brings to the table his experience with Business Ethics Indiana, an entity on a quest to make the state a paragon of business ethics—a mission where Prentice has been a steadfast presence as an executive sponsor, policy driver, and a beacon for professional integrity, according to the announcement on State of Indiana's official events calendar.
Scholastically speaking, the man’s no slouch either—flaunting twin JDs from Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, not to mention a litany of certificates that round out an already robust resume.
