The National Weather Service in San Francisco has projected a fairly mild week for the Bay Area despite a few light rain showers mainly focusing on the North Bay today and potentially another system on Wednesday, as reported in an early morning forecast. According to the NWS announcement, "The weather is pretty quiet this week with mild temperatures, gentle to moderate wind, and unseasonably warm temperatures by next weekend."
Today's weak cold front, expected to bring light rain to regions north of San Francisco, will dissipate by midday, moving inland, while the rest of the Bay Area may only witness increased cloud cover and sparse drizzle the low-pressure system associated with the front originates far to the north, near the 50th parallel, resulting in a slack local pressure gradient and hence, gentle winds. It's a similar narrative for Wednesday's system, although with a slight uptick in wind activity that could warrant a wind advisory for coastal and high terrain areas, where a 25% chance for over 40 mph gusts is noted. "By Wednesday, a moderate strength jet max and sharp 500 mb trough will support another cold front at the surface and another round of light rain," according to the National Weather Service.
Regarding aviation and marine concerns, the National Weather Service has issued specific advisories for the Bay Area, citing VFR conditions disrupted by a bounty of high clouds and the possibility of MVFR ceilings during the incoming weak front as for sailors and sea lovers, marine conditions will intensify with moderate northwest swell and potentially rough seas for the coming days, and beachgoers are advised to exercise caution due to arriving moderate west swell.
A moderate west swell is expected to roll in for activities closer to shore by early Monday.
