
An attempted robbery in South Austin was thwarted when a bystander stepped in, resulting in the shooter being wounded. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of West Congress Parkway around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. A would-be robber accosted a 68-year-old woman demanding her property when, a 38-year-old man intervened, engaging in a physical altercation with the perpetrator.
During the struggle, the assailant was shot in his left leg. Police details confirm the gunman was transported to Stroger Hospital and was listed in good condition. This rapid sequence of events unfolded without further injuries to bystanders or the individuals directly involved, ABC 7 Chicago reports.
