
A Cambridge City man was pronounced dead after being discovered pinned under a skid steer in Milton, Indiana. FOX59 reported that the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident in the 100 block of East North Street around 12:29 p.m. yesterday.
Upon arrival, authorities found 57-year-old Joseph Peggs unresponsive beneath an overturned skid steer, a piece of heavy machinery frequently used for excavation and landscaping. "Our most sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Mr. Peggs," the Sheriff's Office expressed in a news release, acknowledging the gravity of the incident. The initial findings suggest the occurrence was "a tragic accident," as offered in a statement retrieved by WTHR.
The joint efforts of multiple first responders from different departments did not go unnoticed. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Milton Fire Department, Centerville Fire Department, Cambridge City Police Department, and Reid Health EMS for their timely assistance at the scene. Their collaborative attempt to free Peggs and administer medical aid was immediate, although he later succumbed to his injuries at Reid Health hospital in Richmond a short time after being freed. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office mentioned in a Facebook post the ongoing investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding Peggs' death, indicating it was indeed a lamentable accident.
