The Chicago Police Department has announced that it will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol in the 4th (South Chicago) District this upcoming weekend. The patrol is set to take place from Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 6 p.m. to Sunday, March 2, at 2 a.m., to curb impaired driving and related traffic violations.

During the saturation patrol, officers will be focusing on signs of impaired driving but will also keep a sharp eye on speed, alcohol-related, and safety belt violations. The initiative is not merely a crackdown on drunk driving but encompasses a wider scope, aiming to promote overall traffic safety. Police cars equipped with speed detection technology will be actively scouting for anyone daring to surpass the legal limits.

According to information provided by the official Chicago Police Department's news release, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be put into use. This strategic deployment is designed to expedite the charging process for those arrested under suspicion of DUI, potentially allowing for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued directly at the site of the patrol.

The previous DUI Saturation Patrol, which took place in the 3rd (Grand Crossing) District on February 22-23, observed no DUI arrests but resulted in a total of 20 citations for various offenses, including insurance and driver's license violations.
