This past weekend, a typical Saturday night in Colma became a fast-paced chase scene for local law enforcement. In a Facebook post shared by the Colma Police Department, they detailed the arrest of a shoplifting suspect who made a break for it through an emergency exit.
While conducting routine checks last Saturday, officers from Colma PD were alerted by loss prevention staff about a man allegedly trying to make off with unpaid merchandise. According to the social media post, a male was spotted concealing goods in his backpack and loitering by an emergency exit at a business on the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard.
Once in custody, the man was identified as Vincent Burton, a 37-year-old Oakland resident. An inventory of the goods indicated that he had taken merchandise worth $244.48. After being arrested for shoplifting, Burton was handed a citation and set free on his promise to appear in court.
