The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for the Fuller Park neighborhood in the 9th (Deering) District, following a series of recent robberies occurring on the train. In each reported incident, a group of 3-4 unknown individuals have approached victims, demanding property and then assaulting them with their fists.
These crimes took place on the 200 block of W. 47th St., with the first incident on January 6, 2025, at 8 a.m., and the latest occurring on Monday, at 6:45 p.m. According to the Chicago Police Department, the suspects have been described as unknown males, donned in black clothing and ski masks, the readiness of their attire for crime as stark as the intention behind their concealed faces.
The Department is advising residents and commuters in the area to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately. If confronted by an assailant, the key is to remain calm and to remember any distinguishing features that could aid in identification, such as scars, a limp, acne, or distinctive teeth.
In cases of robbery, the police strongly caution against pursuing fleeing suspects. Rather, information should be relayed to law enforcement professionals. "Never pursue a fleeing assailant," police warn, "provide the information to the police." Witnesses to the crime are encouraged, if approached, to ask for contact information and dial 9-1-1 immediately, staying on the scene when feasible.
