DePauw University junior Benjamin Gale has stepped into a world of bill analysis, policy research, and constituent services, as he undertakes an internship with the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus. Hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Gale is putting his studies in philosophy and pre-law to practical use at the Indiana Statehouse during the 2025 legislative session, according to the Indiana Senate Republicans.
In a statement obtained by the Indiana Senate Republicans, State Sen. Brett Clark (R-Avon) acknowledged the significance of intern contributions. "Interns like Benjamin are very helpful to the function of the Senate," Clark said. His acclaim didn't end there; the senator recognized the dual opportunity as a win-win for both the intern and the state's legislative body, Gale represents DePauw University in this skilled dance of governance and higher learning.
Pursuing educational and vocational growth, Gale is involved in tracking and analyzing bill data, staffing Senate committee hearings and meetings, and navigating the labyrinth of legislative policy research. He joins a cohort of Senate Majority interns whose tenure will conclude with the close of the legislative session on April 29.
"I am excited to further my professional development and work with Indiana senators for a better future," Gale told the Indiana Senate Republicans. His role, while focused at the Statehouse, stretches beyond these walls into the ever-evolving realm of legislatory engagement – a hands-on approach to understanding and contributing to the mechanics of state government.
