A Downers Grove man faces serious charges for threats he allegedly made against an Illinois State Representative. DuPage County reports that William Dzadon, 71, is charged with two counts of Threatening a Public Official, which is classified as a Class 3 Felony. Details emerged after an arrest warrant was issued last Friday, and Dzadon subsequently turned himself over to authorities on Tuesday.
The complaint filed infers on November 13, Dzadon left voicemails for State Representative Anne Stava-Murray filled with menacing language. He's accused of leaving a message saying, "Quit filling my mailbox with your f***ing b******t every other day you buck-toothed, ugly b**** and now you’re gonna start f***ing harassing me on the telephone. F*** you. I’ll come to your f***ing office and f***ing blow you up," as stated by DuPage County. A second threat followed, asking Stava-Murray to disclose her residence to "return the favor." Dzadon was released on personal recognizance after surrendering to the Illinois State Police.
State’s Attorney Robert Berlin stressed the severity of Dzadon's alleged actions. "Regardless of circumstances or intent, threatening an elected official, as alleged against Mr. Dzadon, is an extremely serious allegation and will not be tolerated in DuPage County," Berlin stated, as quoted by DuPage County. He commended both the Illinois State Police and Assistant State’s Attorney Philip Ungar for their swift response and case preparation.
Dzadon will face the court again on March 19, 2025, for an arraignment before Judge Mia McPherson. While these charges paint a grim picture, it's important to remember that they only represent allegations at this stage. Under our legal system, Dzadon holds the presumption of innocence until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
