The Franklin Police Department's FLEX Unit reported the arrests of 50 individuals for retail theft at Cool Springs Galleria and neighboring shopping centers. The operation, dubbed "Not in Our Mall," spanned over six weeks beginning November 19, 2024, according to a City of Franklin statement released last Monday.
Wielding a zero-tolerance stance against shoplifting, the unit's efforts were rewarded with the recovery of merchandise nearing $9,500 in value. In a statement obtained by the City of Franklin, Police Chief Deb Faulkner expressed her pride in the team's initiative and extended gratitude towards the cooperating retail establishments and their staff. She remarked, "Although the holiday shopping season may now be behind us, let me once again assure those who want to come in our city and steal, that we will catch you and put you behind bars."
The operation reflects a recurring push to maintain law and order during the hectic shopping period to deter criminals who target retail hotspots. As Thanksgiving gives way to the end of the year, the Franklin Police Department has strategically initiated this campaign annually, focusing on areas with higher shopper density and potential theft incidents.
