If the grind of lesson-planning and resource creation has been wearing down our noble educators, relief might just be a URL away. According to Utah Education Network, the advent of generative AI is poised to become a teacher’s ally in crafting comprehensive educational experiences. This tech, paired with open educational resources (OER), could very well reshape the landscape of instructional planning.

In Utah, for instance, teachers have hit a jackpot with the availability of a database full of OER through Media, all with a simple click at emedia.uen.org. These are not just any educational materials, they're high-quality, customizable, and openly licensed. That means educators can save precious time by reusing and remixing content without starting from scratch. However, time constraints still make the creation of OER a daunting task. That’s where AI tools such as MagicSchool, SchoolAI, and Skill Struck come into play, streamlining the process by generating resources in a snap.

"Generative AI can provide access to dramatically more resources, on more topics, in more languages, with more examples, using more pedagogies, in more formats," said Dr. David Wiley, a proponent of OER, as per Utah Education Network

The potential for AI to revolutionize the teaching experience is clear. It frees up teachers to focus on the meat of their work, evaluating and improving the resources through iterative feedback and collaboration. This ensures that student learning isn't just a one-size-fits-all package but tailored to actual needs and preferences. What's more, educators are encouraged not just to consume but also contribute by joining eMedia groups to discuss and share resources, thus creating a collaborative ecosystem.
