Uptown, Chicago became the scene of a firearm-infused robbery early today when a diner at a local restaurant was threatened and divested of his belongings. The incident took place just after midnight, with a 30-year-old man finding himself face-to-face with an individual wielding a gun demanding his property, as per the Sun-Times.
The gunman's brazen act unfolded within the walls of a pizza restaurant on the 1400 block of W. Montrose Avenue. After the customer complied, relinquishing what was asked of him, the assailant then aimed his greed towards the restaurant's cash register. It is reported by ABC 7 Chicago that restaurant employees took flight from the front of the store as the suspect fumbled to extract money from the register. The attempt was in vain as the perpetrator left empty-handed in that regard.
As the authorities were notified, the search for the suspect commenced, although resulting in no immediate apprehension. The Chicago Police Department has engaged in an investigation following the event.
Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained. Both employees and patrons were left unscathed.
