Hanover Park Man Found Guilty in Shooting Spree Following Minor Traffic IncidentSource: DuPage County

A DuPage County Judge has rendered a guilty verdict in the chilling case of a Hanover Park man who went on an alleged shooting spree following a minor traffic incident. Reco Murry, 27, previously of Ontarioville Road, was found guilty on counts of Attempt Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, DuPage County announced. The incident dating back to the summer of 2022, concluded in a two-day bench trial overseen by Judge Joseph Bugos.

The dangerous escalation occurred in the early hours of August 21, 2022, when Murry reportedly became aggressive with a woman motorist. Following a petty traffic clash, Murry, it is alleged, fired multiple rounds at the victim's vehicle, both during the initial encounter and again as she attempted to escape. Murry's apprehension was swiftly executed as the victim led him to the Hanover Park Police Department. A firearm and evidence of the shooting was recovered by the authorities.

In a statement made by DuPage County, Berlin expressed grave concerns about the impulsiveness of road rage that led to the attack. "he fact that Mr. Murry not only opened fire on an innocent woman whom he had never even met before due to a minor traffic altercation but then continued to follow her and then again opened fire as she waited at a red light is outrageous," Berlin said.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, luckily escaped without physical harm despite her car taking multiple hits. Murry, has been in custody without bond since his initial court appearance, and following the verdict, now faces a significant prison sentence. His next court appearance is set for March 31 for the return of the Pre-sentence Report, where he faces between twenty-six to fifty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served at 85%, as per DuPage County.
