Early on Wednesday, an incident occurred at Līhu‘e Airport that resulted in a man’s death, now under investigation by Hawai‘i authorities. Airport Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) were called to the scene following reports of a disruptive male in the airport's ticket lobby. The confrontation ensued on the road between the terminal and the public parking lot, ultimately leading to the man being transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased has since been identified as 53-year-old Harley Morris. The details surrounding the altercation, and the cause of Morris's death, remain under investigation. Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) officers were summoned to the airport after Airport LEOs and an airline employee were seen detaining Morris. Upon their arrival, KPD officers discovered Morris in need of urgent medical care and administered CPR, along with a dose of Naloxone (Narcan), as shared in a statement by the Kaua‘i Police Department.
Emergency medical responders took over the resuscitation efforts while transporting Morris to Wilcox Medical Center, where he was eventually pronounced dead. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine Morris's cause of death.
Information about this incident is limited, but local authorities are requesting assistance from the public.
