A Hollywood man is currently behind bars, facing serious charges after he held a woman captive and sexually assaulted her multiple times within the span of nearly a week. The accused, 38-year-old Antonio Paez, was arrested and charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, CBS News Miami reports.
The ordeal began on Dec. 22, 2024, and persisted for six days, during which time Paez is alleged to have wielded a firearm to threaten the victim's life, coercing her into compliance. According to an arrest warrant filed in a Broward court, "The act of violence created a well-founded fear within the victim that further violence would take place if she did not comply," as stated in the CBS News Miami piece. On the final day of her containment, the victim succeeded in escaping Paez's home and sought help from emergency services.
In disturbing follow-up actions, while the victim was with Hollywood Police, Paez allegedly continued to torment her with threatening messages, including one that ominously promised "to put three bullets in her." Documents reveal he also sent a photograph of himself alongside three other men, reinforcing his threats by expressing he was ready for her to return so "she could send her to heaven," which was reported by NBC Miami.
Paez's apprehension was the work of the Hollywood police SWAT team, who arrested him at his Fillmore Street apartment. He is presently being held without bond and, in addition, has been placed on an immigration hold. As the case moves forward, Paez faces the judiciary process in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, with Judge Michael Davis presiding over the proceedings.
