The Clarksville community is grappling with the aftermath of a tragedy following the arrests in connection to the brutal murder of 23-year-old Fort Campbell soldier Private First Class Katia Duenas Aguilar. Two individuals, including the victim's husband, have been charged for their alleged involvement in the slaying that has left a family and a 4-year-old without their loved one.

According to FOX17, 35-year-old Sofia Rodas faces first-degree murder charges and tampering with evidence. Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, Aguilar's husband is charged solely with tampering with evidence. Both were extradited to Clarksville last Friday to face these new indictments, as they were already in federal custody on unrelated charges at the time.

An autopsy report indicated an alarming degree of violence, revealing that Duenas Aguilar sustained 68 sharp force injuries, predominantly to the neck. These findings, which led to a homicide ruling in Aguilar's cause of death, were part of the evidence presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury in December 2024 by the Clarksville Police Department and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), as per WKRN.

The Aguilar family is now wrestling with their loss and seeking solace in their memories. "She is like the sun," said Aguilar’s sister Cecilia, as per WSMV4, viewing her sister as a ubiquitous and guiding presence. The family also hopes the community to extend support as they brace for the legal procedures ahead. "I just want justice," Carmen Aguilar, the victim's mother, said.
