The Jackson County community is in mourning following the sudden deaths of Jackson County High School Principal Dr. Max Petett and his wife in what authorities are describing as a tragic accident. The couple reportedly died over the past weekend in an incident that took place on Dale Hollow Lake.
Official details are scarce as the investigation continues, however, the Clay County Sheriff's Office, has made preliminary assessments. According to a statement from the Sheriff's Office, there is currently no indication of foul play and it appears that the couple may have drowned. Autopsy results are pending to confirm this, according to 3B Media News.
The district expressed its deep sorrow on social media. "Dr. Petett was more than a leader, he was a mentor, a friend, and a champion for our students and staff. His dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our school will never be forgotten," expressed the district in a touching tribute posted on Facebook, which was highlighted in coverage by WSMV. The loss is said to be profoundly felt throughout the school where Dr. Petett had recently begun serving as principal, having had over thirty years of experience in education.

Boone disclosed that "Max Petett and his wife were reported missing from their houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake," a revelation included in a Facebook post cited by Soap Central.
