One suspect, wielding a hatchet, reportedly chased the victims over a fence, throwing the hatchet during the pursuit. A gunshot was fired during the ensuing confrontation, though no one was reportedly hit, after which the suspects fled the scene. Through community assistance and surveillance footage, Livermore police identified four suspects and issued Ramey arrest warrants, the agency detailed.
An off-duty Livermore officer later spotted the suspect vehicle, with the chase ultimately involving multiple law enforcement agencies and reaching speeds up to 140 mph. The pursuit concluded after deputies deployed spike strips west of Tracy on I-205, bringing the vehicle to a halt and leading to the arrest of the four occupants. "Officers tracked the vehicle as it traveled to Stockton," the Livermore Police Department narrated, acknowledging the support from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, ALCO 1, as well as the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Facing multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, the suspects hail from Livermore, Pleasanton, and Stockton, aged between 15 and 17. One was apprehended in an unrelated "disturbing the peace" incident. Officials believe the events may have gang ties, and the case has been forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review. "Investigators believe this incident is gang-related," the Livermore Police Department stated.
