Las Cruces families can soon sign their kids up for some structured springtime fun. The city's Parks and Recreation Department is set to open registration for its Spring Break Camp on February 10, with a slate of activities scheduled during the standard school intercession period.
According to the City of Las Cruces, the camp will operate from March 10-21, accommodating children in kindergarten through fifth grade at Fairacres Elementary School and Jornada Elementary School. The program includes a variety of physical activities, arts and crafts, games, and field trips intended to both entertain and potentially educate the kids in a less formal setting. In addition to the structured activities, breakfast, and lunch will be served each day.
The fee for this two-week program is a reasonably priced $20 per child. Officials caution some of the field trips might carry additional costs, which will be communicated to parents as needed. Parents looking to manage their budgets while ensuring their kids stay engaged over the break might find this camp a valuable resource.
To make registration convenient, parents can sign their children up online starting at 8 a.m. on February 10, with the window closing sharply at 5 p.m. on February 28. Those who prefer to do things in person can swing by several Parks and Recreation facilities during regular business hours, such as the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center and Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center among other places listed on the department's website.
