
A child, estimated to be between 10 and 11 years old, was found unconscious in a community pool in Lauderhill, FL, this afternoon. NBC Miami reported that Lauderhill Police responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. after witnesses reported a juvenile male was drowning in the pool located at the 2300 block of Northwest 56th Avenue. The boy was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition, being unconscious but breathing when fire rescue officials arrived.
Lauderhill Fire Rescue confirmed that bystanders had pulled the boy from the water before they arrived. The police department has since cordoned off the area with yellow crime scene tape, indicating an investigation into how the boy became unresponsive in the pool. These events took place within the Sunny Lake community, according to Local 10 News.
