The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reaching out to the state's freshwater anglers, seeking their input on the health and management of the Atchafalaya River Basin. A survey was launched this past Monday, targeting a randomly selected group of individuals from the angling community, in pursuit of understanding the collective perspective on local fishing quality and regulatory preferences, as reported by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries's initiative focuses on gathering data that are critical for the Inland Fisheries Section, whose efforts steward the aquatic life slipping through the waterways of South Central Louisiana. Sent via email on Monday, the survey began its roll-out, poised to inform the department's ongoing conservation and management strategies. According to Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries's announcement, "Participation will assist LDWF’s Inland Fisheries Section in better managing fishing in the ARB for Louisiana anglers."
However, this isn't an exclusive conversation among a select few. All those who cast lines into the basin's freshwater expanse will have their chance to weigh in. Starting Monday, February 24, the survey will be open for two weeks on the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website, inviting a broader spectrum of input from the fishing community.
For more information or to ask questions, anglers can reach out to Fisheries Biologist Manager Brac Salyers at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
