
The collaboration of local and federal law enforcement led to the apprehension of a man accused of sexually assaulting a child in St. Lucie County. Christopher Diaz Perez was arrested recently for a crime involving a victim under 12 years old, as stated by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
According to CBS12 report, this arrest was a coordinated effort by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Task Force, which located and brought Perez into custody. The charges Perez faces are severe; specifically, he has been booked on a count of capital sexual battery of a child by an individual 18 or older.
According to WPBF, Perez's next legal steps will be in Indian River County, where the initial warrant for his arrest was issued.
