
A tragic domestic-related shooting incident claimed the life of a man and critically injured a woman in Mount Prospect, police reported. The violence unfolded late Monday afternoon in the confines of a condominium complex's parking garage located at the 1200 block of Northwest Highway.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, authorities identified the deceased as 53-year-old Michael Work of Shorewood, Wisconsin, who succumbed to his injuries at Lutheran General Hospital by 8:55 p.m. The woman, 63, was conscious and communicating with law enforcement, despite being in critical condition. Both victims were found with gunshot wounds, shortly after 5 p.m.
Mount Prospect police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. The Major Case Assistance Team's forensic team was reported to have responded to the crime scene to assist with evidence collection, as per a statement procured by NBC Chicago. Their involvement suggests a complex and sensitive nature to this case, which remains in an active state of inquiry.
