A major fire broke out yesterday late at night in North Palm Beach, destroying three large boats at a local marina. Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Marina Boulevard around 11 p.m. and found a 48-foot catamaran fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to two nearby sailboats, as CBS12 reported.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) and North Palm Beach Fire Rescue worked through the night to contain the fire. The flames spread from the catamaran’s cabin to the surrounding area, requiring the use of a ladder stream and several hand lines. By 3 a.m., the fire was under control with 20 units at the scene.
Firefighters were joined by additional teams from Palm Beach Gardens to assist with the effort. A unified command allowed for smooth coordination between agencies. Fortunately, no civilians were seriously harmed, though one individual was evaluated for injuries and declined to go to the hospital, according to a WPBF report. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
