A Marlborough man has been arrested for possession of child pornography after detectives found over 500 objectionable videos and images on his seized cellular device. In a recent social media update, the Marlborough Police Department reported that the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Michael L. Ryan, was apprehended following an extensive investigation which began with a tip-off from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The images and videos uncovered portrayed young children, seemingly under the age of 18, in sexually explicit situations.

In the wake of the distressing discovery, the detectives coordinated with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office to secure subpoenas and thereby pinpoint Ryan as the individual behind the upload of these materials to Google from a local residence. The police operation culminated on February 6, when Mr. Ryan, standing outside his residence, was confronted by law enforcement officials, leading to the confiscation of his cellular phone and the acquisition of a warrant for a comprehensive forensic analysis.

The digital probe into Ryan's electronic affairs bore dreadful insight into the extent of his exploitation of minors. As per the Marlborough Police Department's Facebook post, the authorities were able to extract and identify over 500 illicit materials from Ryan's device. The cache of content was predominantly composed of videos and still images that depicted children in what the statement described as "a lewd state of nudity, and/or sex act."

After the issuance of the arrest warrant, Ryan was detained by the authorities yesterday. The Marlborough Police Department has stated, "Protecting children has always been one of our top priorities, and people who engage in this type of behavior will be dealt with accordingly."
