The Meerscheidt Recreation Center, a hub for community activities located at 1600 E. Hadley Ave., is set to undergo a phase of roof repairs starting today. This construction work is projected to span several weeks but should not interfere with the facility's regular operations, as confirmed by the City of Las Cruces.
Patrons of the center can expect the regular schedule of programs and operating hours to remain undisturbed, a move likely to be a relief for those dependent on its services. The north parking lot, however, which sits at the rear of the building, will bear the brunt of the disruption. It will see restrictions and/ or limited availability to accommodate the repair, staging, and equipment necessary to address the roofing issue. Access to the front parking lot and the additional parking available at Maag Ball Park, located at 1500 E. Hadley Ave., will still be accessible for patrons.
While the specifics of the repair project's timeline remain under wraps, it's clear that the City of Las Cruces is taking steps to ensure that Meerscheidt's amenities remain accessible. In the spirit of maintaining normalcy, the city's approach ensures that the community's well-being continues to be a priority throughout construction.
