On a recent Thursday evening, chaos erupted on the 700 block of Vaal Avenue in Memphis, TN. The Memphis Police Department reported that at 7:30 p.m., February 6, 2025, officers arrived at the scene of a shooting where they found a male victim critically wounded. He was quickly transported to Regional One Hospital. According to the police department's social media post, the suspect, colloquially known as D-Boy, had been conversing with the victim before the assault during which he allegedly fired the gun.

The wheels of justice turned swiftly following the incident, and the Memphis Police Department moved to identify the assailant. Investigators pinned down 20-year-old Devontae Watson-Matthew as the suspected gunman, known in the streets as D-Boy.

A warrant for Watson-Matthew's arrest was promptly issued, with charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm with the Intent to Commit a Dangerous Felony. He was taken into custody at 1:40 a.m. on February 7, without incident or further harm coming to the community.
