A Miami-Dade County man, identified as Nicholas James Sonet, has been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a child pornography scandal. With reporters at Local 10 News detailing the 27-year-old faces multiple charges including possession and attempts to promote the sexual performance of a child. Sonet's arrest resulted from an investigation prompted by cyber tips received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in late 2023 that indicated a user was in possession of explicit materials involving minors through an internet-based application.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Sonet's home that led to the disturbing discovery of numerous videos which purportedly depict the sexual abuse of young children, with victims estimated to be as young as 1 year, furthermore, detectives claim to have found hundreds of other files containing child sexual abuse material sprawled across various apps on his device; this according to the details obtained from an NBC Miami report.
An arrest report reviewed by Local 10 reveals that, during an investigation of Sonet's cellphone, evidence was uncovered of multiple conversations in which he "vocalizing his desire to adopt a ‘little girl’ for his sexual desires," and in some instances, he even disclosed intentions to impregnate an individual he believed to be just 13 years old.
Currently, Sonet remains behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with NBC Miami noting that as of the latest reports, his bond had been set to $35,000 despite the heinous nature of the crimes he is accused of and the significant evidence logged against him.
