A recent operation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit has culminated in the arrest of a 27-year-old man on charges of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials. The arrest occurred yesterday, after a search warrant was conducted at his Miami residence, according to a press release by the MDSO.
Investigators pinpointed Nicholas James Sonet after receiving tips from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. The tips indicated that a user of an internet-based application was circulating material of a highly egregious nature. Multiple items fitting the description of child sexual abuse material were found at the 7191 SW 14th Street location, per the same press release.
Mr. Sonet is facing severe charges, including sexual performance by a minor, in both possession and promotion categories. These grave allegations attest to a larger societal issue that the web often hides, yet vigilance from authorities continues to bring such activities to light. The case number, PD231103364530, notes that the arrest was made at approximately 6:00 AM.
